PORTER IN THE PARK (best price 11-2) rose like a phoenix from the flames to get up and score late on at Ludlow last time out and with the data speaking favourable of her performance, Emma Lavelle’s mare is worth keeping on side despite the slight rise in class.

Nicely supported in her bid to take advantage of a step back up in trip on better ground, things didn’t look overly promising when she clipped heels and almost end up on the floor rounding the home bend but to her ultimate credit, she somehow found the necessary requirements to mow down her main rivals in the shadows of the post.

Clocking the best time on the card by some way, she amazingly also ran the last circuit four seconds quicker than Daddy Long Legs, who took the opening maiden hurdle over a mile shorter, and with the seventh horse going on to boost the form with an agonising runner-up spot at Ffos Las on Tuesday, she looks set fair to follow suit and put up another bold bid under similar conditions.

MAGELLAN STRAIT (best price 9-1) caused one of the upsets of last season when landing the Irish Cesarewitch at 150-1 but with the time figure and manner of victory suggesting there was no fluke about the performance, Joseph O’Brien’s inmate can stamp his class on what appears a substandard renewal of this famous race.

When you look back at that quality 30-runner field at the Co Kildare venue, it was a big of a who’s who of top class home-based staying handicappers and in what turned out to be a war of attrition in the conditions, the five-year-old showed very commendable battling qualities when push came to shove.

Unimpressive when narrowly landing the odds at Dundalk when last seen, the refitting of blinkers should help the son of Australia concentrate a little more at the job in hand and likely to prominent throughout from his favourable low draw, it’s fair to say he looks overpriced on the bare bones of his form.

TERAABB (best price 7-2) came from a seemingly impossible position to snatch victory in the dying strides at Newbury last time out and with a run style that not only lends itself to today’s track but how Jamie Spencer likes to ride here as well, the combination can swoop late to conquer.

Slow away in all his four races as a juvenile, Charlie Fellows’ inmate was once again last out of the gates at the Berkshire venue and that meant by halfway, he still had a good deal left on his plate. However, with a withering run up the stands’ side rail, he managed to storm by his six rivals and in the end, he went on to score with a bit in hand.

Clocking a smart time figure in the process, he comes out of that race on a revised mark that probably doesn’t fall in line with superiority that day and likely to be ridden in a similar fashion here this afternoon, a copy and paste display looks on the cards over a trip that should also suit.

LUCKY LOVER BOY (NAP) (best price 3-1) arrives here following one of his best performances for some time and a repeat of anything close to what he achieved at Huntingdon should make him very difficult to beat at a track where he is undefeated in two previous visits.

Although he proved no match for the front pair 15 days ago, he stayed on strongly from the back of the field to finish a never-nearer third and with the numbers from that decent Class 4 event suggesting it was a very good one of its kind, he should find life in tonight’s slower lane all the more suitable (both his two wins here came at Class 5 level).

Time may tell OZARK DAZE (best price 15-2) split two useful sorts on the all-weather at Dundalk last time out and with that performance pointing towards a huge step forward following a gelding operation, Andrew Oliver’s inmate can continue his progression back on turf.

Settling nicely in behind the strong pace set by Huxley, the son of Oasis Dream was noted still going as well as anything turning for home and when delivered with his challenge approaching the final furlong, he ran hard all the way to the line to keep the heavily backed favourite London City honest all the way to the line.

Considering the winner is held in high regard and will more than likely take his chance in a Derby trial in the coming weeks, his effort in defeat reads well in the context of today’s race and at the morning odds, he rates a perfectly viable each-way option against those down the front end of the market.
