HIMALAYAN HEIGHTS (best price 5-1) has locked horns with several promising types so far this season and even though he faces another in the shape of Ephesus here this afternoon, Ger Lyon’s colt is still fancied to put up another bold bid to shed his maiden tag.

As time as told, he faced an impossible task trying to match motors with subsequent winner Birdman at Cork two starts ago and the same comments apply to his latest exploits against the potential top-class colt, Highbury, at Leopardstown. Unable to quicken as well as the winner from two out, he just kept on at the same pace to finish a distant second but with a return to a softer surface to put more emphasis on stamina than speed, the son of Camelot should benefit more than most.

ETERNAL SPRING (NAP) (best price 7-2) has shaped well on all her three starts over tonight’s course and with the drop back to six furlongs seen as a potential avenue for improvement, James Tate’s filly rates the percentage call at the morning odds.

Keen and green from her wide draw on her debut her back in April, she kept on well from two out despite expended quite a bit of early petrol and since then she has built on that initial effort in her two subsequent outings. Not having the pace to go with impressive winner, Rochelle, back at the Sunbury track next time, the speed figure of the race explained the reason why, and time may tell she was up against two smart fillies in a more tactical affair a week ago.

Arguably better than Lady Flora based on their first encounter here over a month ago, she seemingly only has the 69-rated Cervaro Della Sala standing in her way of her direct path to glory and from stall one, this represents her best chance to date.

PRAY TELL (best price 9-1) seemingly has plenty to find on official ratings with quite a few of these but at least we know he stays this trip well and if repeating his performance when runner-up to Toor Khov at Tipperary last time out, he might just turn out to be the joker of the pack.

Having his first run for a year at the Limerick Junction venue, the eight-year-old travelled noticeably well throughout a soundly run affair and despite finding one too good after the last, he stayed on well to keep the winner honest all the way to the line, in turn, pulling well clear of the rest.

Looking at the data from the race two weeks ago, it’s worth pointing out the solid overall time figure was backed up by a final circuit comparable with the two-mile events on the same card, including the one won by the classy Salvator Mundi, and considering the ground deteriorated as the evening progressed, the levels of performance shown by the three milers deserves upgrading accordingly.

Arguably better than his current rating of 116 based on that evidence, Desmond Kennealy’s inmate looks set to easily outrun his morning odds.
