FANTASY MASTER (best price 9-2) showed more signs of life in a big-field handicap at Ascot last time out and returning to his happy hunting ground, Darryl Holland’s gelding looks primed to give it a good lash at course win number four.

Having not shown a massive amount on his first three starts of the campaign, it was easy to see why he was sent of at 20-1 at the Berkshire track but despite the modest market vibes, he managed to finish a creditable sixth of the 26-strong field.

Probably because of his association with previous trainer Michael Appleby, the six-year-old has had a natural affinity with the Colwick Park venue and based on his last three performances at the track towards the backend of last season, today’s assignment looks to be his best opportunity to regain the wining theme for some time.

TEN POUNDS (best price 9-2) was noted doing all his best work at the finish of an above average maiden at Newbury on his debut and he is fancied to find the necessary improvement to feature in this similar class contest.

Sent off at 50-1 at the Berkshire venue, clearly not much was expected of Harry Charlton’s inmate in a field that contained many highly regarded sorts but in keeping on well to claim fourth spot in the latter stages, he consented to blow apart all the pre-race negativity in his direction.

A well-made son of Ten Sovereigns who looks the type to keep improving with time, especially over further, tonight’s contest is seen as another building block towards his development, and he is worth keeping on side no matter what the outcome.

KENDALL ROY (best price 7-1) was just narrowly denied the four-timer at Cork last time out, but the figures suggest it was another commendable effort by Kate McGivern’s gelding and there seems no obvious reason why he won’t put up a bold show while clearly in the form of his life.

A dual winner when crossing the Irish Sea earlier this season, the three-year-old was sent off a warm order to complete the hat trick when returning to home soil two weeks ago and although he was foiled in his bid by the late surge of Scorchio, he still came out of the race with his reputation intact.

At his best previously when the pace has been a good deal stronger, he shouldn’t have too many excuses on that front here today with the likes of Air Force One and Nikki Swango in the line up and based on his current wellbeing, he rates a decent each-way option at the morning odds.

SERIOUS CHALLENGE (best price 12-1) didn’t have things go to his satisfaction at Down Royal the other night, but he was noted doing some sterling late work and with his yard finally coming out of a bit of slump they had been in for several weeks, Jim Bolger’s inmate can bring one of the class angles to the table in this Ebor qualifier.

Placed in multiple pattern races over the last two seasons, the son of Fracas was in the weakest race on paper he has contested for some time at the Co Down venue but in what turned out to be a slowly run, tactical affair, he got pinned down on the inside rail when the pace finally increased and he didn’t get a chance to gather up a proper head of steam.

That said, he finished off his race to suggest his turn might come in due course and now racing in a handicap for the first time in his career, he finally gets a window of opportunity to shine at a more realistic level.
