An extremely good novice chase for this time of year and SAYLAVEE (best price 9-2), having impressed on her debut over fences at Killarney a month ago, can prove best of the five last-time-out winners.

Just short of top class over hurdles. Willie Mullins’ mare had her attentions switched to fences to see whether she could take her game to another level and although it’s only early days, the signs look very promising she will.

Jumping and travelling well throughout a well-run affair at the picturesque venue, she picked up the running three out and from that juncture, she eased clear to ultimately score in tidy fashion.

Clocking a useful speed figure for a race of its kind, it was good to see the form immediately boosted by the third, Sea Aster, at Clonmel the other night, and with the strong possibility today’s extra yardage will bring about further improvement, the daughter of Shantou can give the boys plenty to think about.

Of those ahead of her in the morning lists, Easy Fella rates the biggest threat as Henry De Bromhead’s gelding looked a natural on his chasing bow at Tipperary and he has the size and scope to do even better in his new vocation.

SAYLAVEE – 1-point win @ 9-2

CARRADOS (best price 7-2) may have not justified favouritism on his debut at Leicester, but he did more than enough to suggest the money in his direction was only lent and he can make the necessary step forward to score at the second time of asking.

Sent off 5-4 at the Midland venue, the prospect of him justifying those odds increased significantly when Archie Watson’s colt fell out of the stalls and in a race where the strong tempo from the start was unrelenting – resulting in a fast speed figure - he could never work himself into a position where he was any sort of threat.

He did, however, keep on in pleasing enough fashion to suggest he would be a totally different proposition in future and with today’s extra furlong one of the main factors why that thought process might come to fruition, the son of Mehmas can prove the biggest thorn in the side to Principality, who also shaped well on his debut at Newmarket.

CARRADOS – 1-point win @ 7-2

BARRY LYNDON (best price 15-2) locked horns with some useful novices when last seen at the festival here over a month ago and with today’s assignment a lot less taxing by comparison, Dermot McGloughlin’s inmate’s class edge might just prove the key component in his quest to regain the winning theme.

Up against the likes of Mistergif, fifth in the Supreme Novices’ and Gorgeous Tom, runner-up to subsequent Grade 1 winner Caldwell Potter previously, the six-year-old was always likely to struggle for pace when the big guns turned up the heat turning for home at the Kildare venue and although that is exactly how events transpired, he did keep on generously enough to finish a respectable sixth.

Time wise, his effort 39 days ago worked out easily his best in his career so far and with today’s conditions and step up in trip seen as two positives towards his prospects, he can further add to his excellent track record (won on his debut here over hurdles).

BARRY LYNDON – 1-point each-way @ 15-2
