14:15 Southwell

BIG BEE HIVE (best price 11-4) made it three wins in four starts over fences with a brave display at Cartmel last time out and, having already proven his liking for today’s track previously, Sam England’s gelding should put up a bold bid to complete the hat trick.

Looking in a spot of bother after jumping the last at the Cumbrian venue, the seven-year-old kept chipping away at the deficit on the long run to the line and he finally got his due reward for persistence in the shadows of the post, ultimately scoring a shade cosily.

Similarly tenacious in victory over today’s course when nailing the well-fancied Happy Du Mesnil close home, three miles would appear to be the minimum of requirements on the evidence of his latest exploits and hailing from a yard who always do well with their chasers at today’s venue, the seven-year-old can keep those useful stats intact.

The maiden won by Master Builder over today’s course a month ago was a decent one of its kind and CROWN OF INDIA (best price 9-2), who kept on well to finish a close-up third, is fancied to build on that effort stepping up another two furlongs.

Held up in the rear at the Wiltshire track, Ed Walker’s gelding was still in last place at the three-furlong pole but in relentless fashion, he stayed on particularly strongly in the latter stages and to only get beaten under a length in the end by two race-fit rivals must go down as a commendable effort following a 204-day break.

Time wise, the race compared favourable with the rest of the card and with the runner-up going on to boost the form subsequently, there’s every reason to believe the son of Camelot will do the same on his return visit.

17:07 Salisbury

Elladora and XIOMARA (best price 5-1) fought out the finish a useful fillies’ contest at Nottingham last time out and with the former now a late defector, the latter can step up to the plate and represent the form with distinction.

Held up towards the rear at the Midland circuit, the way she kept on well from the back of the field was encouraging for the future and considering that was only her second start on the grass, there remains plenty of scope for improvement.

Time wise, the race worked out well in comparison to the rest of the card and hailing from a team who continue to thrive, the locally trained filly can reward solid each-way support.

19:15 Sligo

RACING DAISY (best price 16-1) has run with a reasonable amount of credit on her three starts since leaving the point scene and with her latest effort suggesting she is more than capable of winning a small race somewhere, she is well worth considering at a decent price on handicap debut.

Keeping on well to finish a creditable fifth over a sharp two miles at Ballinrobe two starts ago, the seven-year-old mare was by no means disgraced in a warm novice event at Tipperary over a mile further last time out and with the data from that contest at the Limerick Junction venue suggesting it was an above-average affair, her performance deserves even more merit.

Handed an opening mark of 93, today’s trip of 2m4f should prove ideal and in a race that has an open feel to it, she could end up being the joker in the pack.
