PARK STREET (best price 6-1) made a pleasing start to his new campaign with a solid effort over today’s C&D last time out and with the strong possibility Tina Jackson’s gelding will strip fitter for the run, there’s a decent chance he can go back-to-back in this corresponding race.

Steadied at the start, the five-year-old still found himself fully ten lengths off the speed passing the three-furlong pole but with a strong late burst, he went by the entire field all bar one, leaving the impression he may have won but for getting checked in his run at a crucial moment.

Executing similar hold up tactics when capturing this prize twelve months ago, he also pulled of another Houdini act over the same C&D three months later and even though he is likely to put his supporters through the ringer here again this afternoon, at least he is the sort of price that compensates the distress.

AMERICAN JERRY (best price 4-1) has finished an honourable second on his last two starts over today’s C&D and there appears no obvious reason under similar conditions why Hughie Morrison’s gelding won’t be a key player again on his return to the west country venue.

The only one to offer any resistance to all-the-way winner Time To Bite here a month ago, the eight-year-old was well supported to go one place better in a similar contest next time but as a result of getting hampered in the early part of the race, he couldn’t quite reel back Up For Appeal, who got loose on the front from two out.

Despite those two defeats, his speed figures each time have suggested he is running better than ever and with a little more luck in his direction this time around, the son of Americain can finally gain his just rewards.

SEE THE CLOUDS (best price 6-1) couldn’t match stable companion, Kitesurfer’s turn of foot on the run-in at Fontwell last time out, but his effort still must go down as a solid one on his first outing for 238 days and having already proven his liking for today’s track in the past (winner over 2m1f), Jamie Snowden’s inmate is fancied to go one place better.

Picking up the running two out at the Surrey track, it momentarily looked like he might go against the pre-race market vibes (sent off 12-1) but in the end he was swept away by his better fancied rival, and he ended having settle for a minor role.

However, looking at the data from 13 days ago, his race was noted for its final circuit being 2.3 seconds quicker than the other hurdles events on the card, so even though he does face several this afternoon who clearly arrive here in good shape, he is in the sort of form himself to more than hold his own.
