Four winners from just five runners easily makes Ross O’Sullivan the trainer of this year’s Galway Festival and the good news might not be over yet for the Kilcullen handler in the shape of BYTHESAMETOKEN in the opener.
Probably better known for his exploits over fences in recent times, he did, however, produce one of his best efforts in this race last season and there appears to be no reason why he shouldn’t go well again.
Staying on well from the rear to finish a close-up third to the in-form, course specialist Teed Up reads well in the context of today’s assignment and following two useful displays over fences since May, his preparation looks to have been timed to a tee.
BYTHESAMETOKEN – 1-point each-way @ 11-2

BARNACULLIA (NAP) (best price 7-2) almost landed a gamble in this race last year (16-1 into 11-2), and with connections seemingly intent of making amends, Michael Mulvany’s gelding rates a strong choice to accomplish the task.
Warming up for another tilt at this prize in the very same race he used last season (finished fifth of 19 the previous year), the seven-year-old once again caught the eye with the way he finished off his race in the closing stages and that first outing for 103 days ago should have served the purpose of putting a nice edge on his fitness.
A sound jumper who goes on any ground and hails from a yard who struck with a 50-1 winner of a maiden here Friday night, he has all the ingredients to follow suit.

DUNUM (best price 5-1) has developed into a proper track specialist in the last two seasons, and he has been handed the perfect stall for him to carve out another positive result in the same contest he captured last year.
Overcoming a terrible draw when successful at the first time of asking at Ballybrit two years ago, Natalia Lupini’s gelding went close to landing the BWW Mile at the same fixture twelve months later, but he didn’t have to wait long for retribution as he walked away with Ahonoora Handicap five days later.
Once again defying a wide draw (stall 17), the six-year-old proved his suitability to today’s unique track and he returns to the scene of that impressive performance following two more than respectable efforts at The Curragh. Nicely berthed in stall 2 and with ground to suit, a good break should see him in a perfect position to strike coming up the hill and turning for home.
