14:30 Brighton

With the chief danger Glamorous Joy an early NR this morning, this looks a good opportunity for ALFRED COVE (best priced at 9/4) to follow up his recent Ffos Las success. The Tony Carroll trained five-year-old won over 6f here in July before finishing third over this trip on his next start a week later.

Alfred Cove got back to winning ways at Ffos Las last time in a classified race but he should still hold strong claims back in a handicap here off a mark of 54 with regular rider Jack Doughty back on board.

19:10 Newmarket

This looks a competitive 0-80 handicap but a chance is taken on both DASHING DICK (best priced at 4/1) and EQUIANO SPRINGS (best priced at 13/2) who boast both course and distance victories.

Dashing Dick won this race last season off a mark of 74 before getting back on track last time with a 3 1/2 length success off a mark of 73 over this course and distance. A 7lb rise is fair and he should prove hard to beat in his repeat bid.

Another course specialist is EQUIANO SPRINGS (best priced at 13/2) who caught the eye behind Dashing Dick last time. He is a six-time winner at Newmarket in his career with two successes at the July course over this trip of 6f. Dropped 1lb for his latest run, he looks sure to be involved in the finish.

20:32 Haydock

The Mick Appleby trained BELL SHOT (best priced at 4/1) was an impressive 5 1/2 length winner last time at Beverley and he should prove hard to beat under a 5lb penalty. The five-year-old was once rated 85 when trained by Charlie Hills but following two stable moves he joined the in-form Appleby stable rated 65.

The handicapper has raised Bell Shot 11lbs for his Beverley success but he instead runs here under a 5lb penalty meaning he is 6lbs “well in” at the weights. Regular rider Ali Rawlinson is back on board and he should hold strong claims of following up.
