Today’s Best Bets from Steve Ryder
The Michael Mulvany trained DUKE OF LEGGAGH (best priced at 5/1) bids for a hat-trick of wins at this course and shapes as if this step up trip should suit. The five-year-old won by a neck on soft ground over the minimum trip in February off a mark of 105 before following up last time by eight lengths on heavy ground off a mark of 112.
On both occasions Duke Of Leggagh has stayed on strongly at the finish under Patrick O’Brien and he should be able to defy a 10lb rise from the handicapper.
16:58 Warwick
Both Sound And Fury and Northern Poet are respected following their wins last time but a chance is taken on ILLICO DE COTTE (best priced at 9/4). The progressive Dan Skelton trained seven-year-old has been running consistently well on his three starts this season but looked outpaced over 2 miles on soft ground at Exeter last time.
This step up in trip to 3m5f for the first time in his nine race career should suit and Illico De Cotte gets to run here off the same mark as his runner-up effort last time. He should prove hard to beat under Harry Skelton.
