The Heather Main trained ZOULU CHIEF was an impressive three-length winner at Wolverhampton last time on his first AW start and he can defy a 7lb rise in this race. The five-year-old had raced 20 times on turf previously running to a good level when achieving a rating of 97.
Zoulu Chief had dropped down to a mark of 81 before showing improved form since being gelded. With form figures of 2321 since that operation, he is completely unexposed on the AW. A mark of 90 shouldn’t be beyond him and he can cope with this step up in grade.

Despite now stepping out of novice company against some smart rivals rated higher than her, LA CONQUIERE looks the one to beat at this 2-mile trip. The Jamie Snowden trained mare finished 2nd in the Grade 2 Mares’ Bumper at Aintree last season and has won both of her starts over hurdles since.
La Conquiere won easily last time at Newbury by 3 ½ lengths on soft ground and she should have too much speed against rivals who have shown their best form over further.

Came From Knowhere was an impressive winner last time in a first-time tongue tie at Hereford but that was in Class 3 company and he now steps up in grade off a 7lb higher mark. Preference instead goes to FAIVOIR who has finally dropped below his last winning mark of 134, which was when victorious in the 2023 County Hurdle.
The last time Harry Skelton rode him he finished a nose 2nd to Sandown specialist Go Dante in the Imperial Cup in March 2024 and has since outrun long odds to finish 3rd in the Greatwood Hurdle this season. He has shown good form at Ascot previously and he should run well with Harry Skelton back on board and four places available.
