Gwennie May Star is an interesting alternative on his first start for Christian Williams.

Val Dancer is the only course winner here having scored over hurdles in 2022 and he is even better over fences, with five career wins including the 2024 Welsh National. He can go well off this mark but he might have to give way to the younger BO CRUZ, who is looking for his hat-trick after wins at Catterick and Wetherby. He is on an upward curve and should handle the rise in class. No Tackle is fancied to come out best of the rest.

A 6lb higher mark for the six-year-old looks workable, particularly with Harry Atkins' 7lb claim taken into account. Mooserwirt and Junior Des Mottes are other likely players.
