Although not quite at his best when finishing fifth at Newcastle recently, Portman Blue's previous thirds give him leading claims. However, Wolverhampton runner-up FILLY EILISH is heading in the right direction and, in receipt of weight from the majority of the field, she edges the vote. Tommo's Ginjaninja should appreciate this longer distance and may land the bronze medal, ahead of Welbury.

Having filled the runner-up spot on all three outings, compensation could be on the cards for BAANDEE. The daughter of Zoustar faces her easiest assignment to date and she's fancied to get the better of chief rival Tenzi. Although Jamie Osborne's filly is rated 7lb inferior to the selection, she's unlikely to be far away given her consistency. Market support for Curtain Caller on her debut would be interesting.

GAELI went into plenty of notebooks when making a winning British/stable bow over C&D earlier this month and is potentially a Group performer in the making. The five-year-old scored with something in hand and gets a confident vote. Clearpoint arrives on the back of a good second in a Listed event at Lingfield and isn't taken lightly reverting to handicap company, while Newcastle winner Fahrenheit Seven is another to bear in mind.

Green Sky returned to the Flat with a decent effort at 100/1 when fourth at Lingfield and she could fight for a place off 1lb lower. Little Miss India won narrowly at Wolverhampton last month and can go well despite an added 4lb, but VELVET RED is preferred. She won easily enough over C&D last week, and the rise in class off 6lb higher may not be sufficient to stop her from following up.

Ash Wednesday is worth a second glance with two wins from four starts here. Too Sweet makes her handicap debut after finishing second at Chelmsford over a year ago and is an interesting contender, though BLAZING SON seems a more sensible call. Beaten into second at Newcastle last time, he has won off his current mark before and also has two Southwell victories to his name.
