Pooley’s Promise looks the one to side with in what sets up as a pretty modest staying contest, especially with doubts around the favourite seeing out the trip strongly. His recent runs are easy enough to forgive given they came on soft ground, which doesn’t appear to play to his strengths, and this return to a sounder surface could bring about plenty of improvement. There’s also intrigue in the fact this is his first start for Neil Mulholland, a yard more than capable of freshening one up, while the fitting of cheekpieces for the first time may help sharpen him further. He is still very fairly treated from a handicapping perspective too, racing from just 1lb above the mark he won from over this sort of trip on good ground, and Bradley Harris taking off 3lb only strengthens the case. In a race lacking depth, he makes plenty of appeal to get back on track.

Horses trained by S Edmunds, in races at Southwell with total number of previous runs between 2 and 6, have won 3 out of 11 races and placed in 6. This gives a win rate of 27.27% and a place rate of 54.55%.
Raced over course and distance last time out, finishing fourth and improving on it's debut run, should have more to come and it is interesting that the money has come.

Quick Turn has a few quirks, but this looks like a very workable opening for him now dropped into a 0-55 for the first time, which is a notable ease in grade. He shaped with a fair bit of promise at Southwell earlier this month and wasn’t disgraced last time either, especially having been backed into half his opening price, so there are signs his turn may not be far away. This race looks a weaker opportunity than the one he faced on that latest start, and the booking of Rossa Ryan catches the eye given his strong 33% strike-rate for the yard. With another 1lb drop in the weights as well, Quick Turn has enough in his favour to think he can go very close in a race of this nature.
