Although now racing from a 12lb higher mark than his victory in this race last year, FINGAL’S HILL (best priced at 3/1) should hold strong claims for a repeat success. The ten-year-old went on to win at both Aintree and Hexham at the end last year season and has returned this term in good form with runner up efforts at Doncaster and here last time. 

Fingal’s Hill was outpaced over the 2m1f trip and should be much better suited by this step back up in trip to 2m4 1/2f off a 1lb lower mark.

THE LOST SOCK (best priced at 7/2) was a disappointing favourite last time on his reappearance but should relish this drop back in trip. The Roger Varian trained gelding was only beaten a head at Thirsk over 5f before getting off the mark at Catterick on his next start over the same distance. 

The son of Cotai Glory returned from a 189-day break having been gelded when racing too keenly over 6 at Kempton. Dropped back in trip to 5f here should suit him much better and he is expected to bounce back to form.
