Belaya River wasn't able to defy a penalty at Kelso in February but although he lost little in defeat and appeals as one of the likelier winners, DIAMOND JIM gets the vote. The son of Teofilo came up short at Warwick having won at Haydock, but he now goes handicapping from a reasonable mark and could also improve for the addition of cheekpieces. Captain Cool heads the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Diamond Jim 2nd Belaya River 3rd Captain Cool

It is hard to oppose REALISATION. Charlie Longsdon's mare found considerable improvement for a step up in trip when winning over C&D last month and a 6lb rise should be no barrier to further success. Mountain Mike and Ailt An Chorrain are still getting the hang of things over fences but can give the selection plenty to think about and don't rule out Stratagem, who ought to benefit from a drop in class.
Prediction : 1st Realisation 2nd Mountain Mike 3rd Ailt An Chorrain

DIXIE COWBOY put a couple of moderate efforts behind him to fill the runner-up spot at Market Rasen and with the seven-year-old having much less to prove than a few of these, a similar level of performance could suffice. Although Myfavouritesister and Beep Beep Becky are both yet to tackle a fence, they probably wouldn't need to find stacks of improvement. Natural Ability has struggled of late, but is now 6lb below his previous winning mark.
Prediction : 1st Dixie Cowboy 2nd Myfavouritesister 3rd Beep Beep Becky

Phantom Gold undoubtedly has the most potential, but he has been off since running away with a Newton Abbot bumper in the summer of 2023 and it will take a remarkable training feat to get him to peak first time back. The safer option is BRIGHT LEGEND, who has plenty of experience under his belt and made the frame in a Wincanton handicap last time. Who's Glen also reverts to maiden company with a big shout, while Hay Max is worth a look.
Prediction : 1st Bright Legend 2nd Whos Glen 3rd Phantom Gold

COSMIC SOUL has struck up a fine partnership with William Maggs, with the pair registering a quickfire course double last month. A 10lb hike obviously demands more of Patrick Neville's six-year-old, but he was successful on the level prior to that brace and is on a steep upward curve. Laddie Cooper Mia got closest to him last time, although she was seven and a half lengths adrift so a 9lb pull may not be enough for her to turn the tables. Knacker Trapper took a step forward at Newcastle, but needs to back that up.
Prediction : 1st Cosmic Soul 2nd Laddie Cooper Mia 3rd Knacker Trapper

Paul Nicholls has a tremendous record with the select team he has sent to Sedgefield so THE GEM STATE will hardly slip under the radar. The five-year-old was bought for 75,000 pounds after an encouraging second in an Irish point-to-point and he is expected to hit the ground running on his Rules bow. Connells Cross has already proven herself a useful bumper performer by winning here, although she is burdened with a penalty as a result. Smart Order is from the family of Lady Buttons so is the most interesting of the newcomers.
Prediction : 1st The Gem State 2nd Connells Cross 3rd Smart Order
