Dark Thirty (0.5pt ew)

Best price 22/1 at the time of publishing.

Double Rush is clearly of interest on his stable debut for Andrew Balding but at a bigger I price I will take a chance on DARK THIRTY (best priced at 22/1). The six-year-old won this race in 2024 off a mark of 93 before losing all chance at the start last year when aiming for a repeat victory. He has since left Richard Hannon and joined John & Sean Quinn where he looked in need of the run at Doncaster when finishing midfield.

Dark Thirty runs in this race this year off a mark of 89 so he looks well handicapped and he should run well.

Riskintheground (1pt)

Best price 10/3 at the time of publishing.

Although recent form figures of 96490 are hardly inspiring, RISKINTHEGROUND (best priced at 10/3) looks to have been targeted at this race by Champion trainer elect Dan Skelton. The nine-year-old won this race last season when it was run at Cheltenham off a mark of 137 and he has dropped below that mark for the first time since. His reappearance victory over Blueking D’Oroux was boosted with that rival finishing runner-up at Aintree in the Grade 1 Manifesto Novices’ Chase.

Riskintheground runs here off a 1lb lower mark than last year and with Harry Skelton taking back over on board, a much better effort is expected.

Boiling Point (1pt)

Best price 11/4 at the time of publishing.

BOILING POINT (best priced at 11/4) is rated 1lb inferior to Damysus but runs here in receipt of 3lbs from that rival. The Karl Burke trained five-year-old progressed with each of his starts last season so he can be expected to step forward from his 4th placed effort in the Group 3 Winter Derby when only beaten 1 ½ lengths at the finish.

Over the same course and distance as his success in the Cambridgeshire Handicap last season, Boiling Point can record his first victory at Group level.
