Although he made an inauspicious debut here in May, the son of Kingman was only a length behind the winner when fourth at Southwell and should be capable of more. That form has been boosted since and has a solid appearance. The returning Cockade and Atlas Mountain are other potential improvers.

Having cost 750,000gns as a yearling, ASTERIAL will have the weight of expectation on his shoulders for his racecourse bow. However, there is plenty to like on paper and given the likes of Cyrano De Bergerac, Avarona and Steamroller need to improve on what they have shown so far, this could be a good starting point for the Amo-owned son of Sea The Stars. Fellow newcomers Phantom Recon, who cost 340,000 euros, and Indhaar, who is related to several winners, also warrant betting checks.

Buckland Belle, a surprise winner over C&D a fortnight ago, is feared off 3lb higher with Oisin Murphy booked for the ride, while Nautical Sky is also unexposed on turf and would have to be of interest if market support arrives. Starakova is not dismissed but it's worth noting he went up 6lb for his Wolverhampton success and is untried over a mile.
