Wayward Queen 16/1 (0.5pt ew)
Maid In Devon got off the mark over this course and distance and he is respected off a 5lb higher mark with Oisin Murphy taking over on board but a chance is taken on WAYWARD QUEEN (best priced at 16/1). The Ralph Beckett trained filly has finished well beaten on her three starts to date but should prove a different proposition on her handicap debut off an opening mark of 47.
Wayward Queen was well backed from 16/1 into 4/1 when a NR at Wetherby last week when Oisin Murphy was booked for the ride and although it is a slight negative that he jumps ship, Wayward Queen is still of interest on her handicap debut in first-time blinkers. She looks sure to run well with four places widely available.

Twilight Guest 16/1 (0.5pt ew)
The George Margarson trained TWILIGHT GUEST (best priced at 16/1) won this race last season off a mark of 52 and he looks overpriced in his repeat bid off a 4lb lower mark. The six-year-old has form figures of 26114 at this track including two victories last season off marks of 47 and 52 prior to completing a hat-trick of wins at Pontefract off a mark of 59.
Twilight Guest has disappointed on his four starts so far this season but as a result has dropped down from a mark of 56 down to a mark of 48. He should appreciate this return to Brighton and can outrun his odds.

Taylormade Lad 4/1 (0.5pt ew)
Soft ground is a question mark for a few of these but that isn’t the case for TAYLORMADE LAD (best priced at 4/1) who put in a career best performance last season on soft ground at Hamilton. The Michael Dods trained four-year-old finished 2nd off a mark of 63 that day after winning over this course and distance off a mark of 60 in August.
Taylormade Lad has finished 3rd on both of his starts so far this season including when beaten only 1 ¾ lengths over this course and distance off this mark last time. He runs here off the same mark and he looks sure to run well back on softer ground.

Lieutenant Sir 9/2 (1pt)
Cape Toronada sets the standard on recent form but a chance is taken on LIEUTENANT SIR (best priced at 9/2) on his handicap debut. The Archie Watson trained three-year-old finished well beaten on all three of his starts last season over 5f when sent off 25/1, 150/1 and 80/1 on the AW.
Lieutenant Sir has been gelded since his last run 174 days ago and now steps up in trip to 6f on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 64 on his first start on turf. A much-improved effort is expected and he looks worth taking a chance on it.
