It is fascinating that Ryan Moore stays loyal to Albert Einstein over last year’s Norfolk Stakes winner Charles Darwin but the standard is no doubt set by VENETIAN SUN (best priced at 13/8). The Karl Burke trained filly is unbeaten in her four career starts over 6f including when beating Gstaad in the Group 1 Prix Morny last season.
Venetian Sun could only finish midfield in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on her reappearance over a mile but was an impressive three length winner over Division in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last time. She won the Albany Stakes at this meeting last season so the trip, track and ground hold no question marks and a draw of Stall 13 gives Clifford Lee options leaving the gates.

Gavin Cromwell is extremely selective with his Ascot runners and it is interesting that QUIET MUTINY (best priced at 12/1) is only his second runner at this meeting this year. The trainer has had 2 winners, 2 seconds and a third from only 8 runners and had Snellen finish 5 th in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes on Wednesday at 16/1.
Quiet Mutiny beat three-time (could be four-time if she justifies favouritism in the Coronation Stakes today) Group 1 winner Precise on her debut and was eyecatching last time when 4 th beaten less than a length on her handicap debut off a mark of 90. She runs here off only a 1lb higher mark, should be well suited by this step up in trip to a mile and is well drawn in Stall 25.

It is slightly disappointing that there are only six runners for the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes this year but both WATER TO WINE (best priced at 6/4) and future Group 1 runners in the future. The John & Thady Gosden trained colt made an impressive 4 ¼ length winning debut at Newbury in a race working out well with the Derby fifth Alderman back in second.
Water To Wine then justified his short price winning at Kempton last time by eleven lengths under a penalty despite still looking green. This represents a significant step up in class but he can take that in his stride in this race.
