Both Roots in Touche and MINZELLE (best priced at 1/1) placed on their respective debuts but preference goes to the latter whose trainer Karl Burke has a better record with juveniles. So far this season the stable are 17/64 with two-year-olds operating at a 27% strike rate and it is notable that Minzelle was sent off only 11/10 favourite for her debut.
Minzelle finished 3rd beaten 5 ½ lengths at Haydock on her debut over 6f having raced keenly in the early stages and weakening late on. This drop in class and drop to 5f will suit and she should be able to get off the mark at the second attempt.

This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to MERTOUN (best priced at 1/1) who put in a much-improved performance on her handicap debut last time. The Jane Chapple-Hyam trained three-year-old had finished well beaten on her first three starts, despite being sent off 6/4 on her debut, but finished 2nd beaten only a short head over this course and distance last time when sent off a well backed 3/1 chance.
The handicapper has only raised Mertoun 2lbs for that narrow defeat and she looks the most likely winner with Rossa Ryan retaining the ride.
