Real Trouper was far from disgraced on his York debut and, although not seen since May 2025, it would be unwise to underestimate him.

The lightly-raced four-year-old is expected to make a good fist of things, likewise Asian Journey.

This looks at the mercy of last year's winner DIAMOND RAIN. Placed at the highest level in North America subsequently, Charlie Appleby's mare kicked off this season with a creditable third in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes at York and should prove tough to beat on these terms. The progressive Dreamasar landed a Listed race at Haydock last month. She could prove a bigger threat than Sky Safari, who is penalised for winning the Winter Derby at Lingfield.

The introduction of an eye shield proved just the ticket when ANCIENT STATE scored in ready fashion at Newmarket recently. The four-year-old had enough in hand to suggest that a 5lb penalty won't be any issue and he displayed enough speed to cope with this drop back in distance. Call To Action returned to form judged on his latest second at Hamilton and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Thirsk winner Miss Rainbow.

Little Beck Annie was well found in the market when landing the spoils at Carlisle and the refitting of cheekpieces should see her in the mix once more. That said, a 5lb penalty does demand more of the four-year-old, which could leave the door open for RIDGEMASTER. Simon Waugh's gelding has filled the frame on his last two outings and compensation could be imminent. Jkr Cobbler is a feasible alternative, for all that this distance may prove on the sharp side.
