The Roger Varian trained SALLAAL (best priced at 11/10) was awarded a lofty rating of 119 following his impressive 6 ½ length success on Oaks Day at Epsom. The four-year-old is incredibly well bred being by Frankel out of Nahrain and he has shown improved form this season since being gelded over the winter.
Sallaal caught the eye on his reappearance when beaten only a length when racing too keen in the early stages but relished a more prominent ride on his next start when beating a strong field by 6 ½ lengths in a handicap off a mark of 107. He faces talented course and distance winners Royal Rhyme and Persica but Sallaal looks progressive and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t follow up in this contest.
