Rumstar could make another bold bid having won this last year with Shagraan back in third. Saying that, this looks a tougher renewal with both Asfoora and WORDS OF TRUTH in opposition. The former bounced back with a better effort at Royal Ascot last month, but the latter makes most appeal. Charlie Appleby's tough and consistent three-year-old was having his first start since January when landing a Listed contest over C&D in good style three weeks ago and he looks ready to take on these older sprinters on that evidence.

Last year's winner Classic is 12lb higher this time having won at Newbury in May, where Indalo was beaten a neck. The latter reversed running when third in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last month and could go close, but the unexposed BEAGLE BAY may edge affairs. Ralph Beckett's charge defied a 9lb rise when successful over C&D on only his second start in a handicap and there looks plenty more to come from the four-year-old. Tribal Chief and Cerulean Bay are others of interest.

PACIFIC MISSION represents last year's winning yard and boasts leading claims on these terms. Runner-up in the Juvenile Fillies Turf at the Breeders' Cup last term, Andrew Balding's filly could take the beating back on fast ground. Act Of Kindness finished just ahead of the selection when fourth at York in May and is not out of it. She's preferred to Sacred Ground, who drops in trip on the back of solid efforts over 1m2f in Listed company.

Not only has Aidan O'Brien taken out the last three renewals of this prestigious contest, he's also landed four of the last five and Dee Stakes winner Constitution River could be a tall order after defeating stable companion Hawk Mountain in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. It's difficult to envisage a scenario in which the pair aren't closely matched again, but even so, the ante-post market doesn't quite reflect that. Saddadd isn't without a chance because he posted a creditable third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh, though GETHIN could be the play. An impressive winner of the Magnolia at Kempton, he pushed the mighty Ombudsman all the way in the Brigadier Gerard and if taking that form literally, he should go very close to winning this.

King's Cavalry is progressive and arrives in search of a hat-trick following wins at Leicester and Doncaster, but SPIRIT OF SAXONY might have his number on this occasion. Eve Johnson Houghton's gelding opened his account at Kempton and was mightily unfortunate not to double up when denied a clear run on several occasions over C&D last month. With only six heading to post, it should be harder to find trouble in theory and so compensation might await. Sunny Smile heads the remainder.

It's difficult to rule many of these out, with AKHO MEZZNA the most compelling. Jack Jones' charge appreciated a step up in distance when filling the runner-up spot over C&D last month and a 1lb nudge up in the ratings looks workable. Barbury Boy has scored on two of his three attempts in handicap company and he's feared most, ahead of Sassicaia, who has undergone a gelding procedure since finishing third at Ascot.

POINT OF CONTACT doesn't have too many miles on the clock and it's encouraging to see Ryan Moore maintain the partnership as the gelding bids to follow up his York success off just 3lb higher. Stepping up a furlong is a slight concern as the likes of Flying Frontier, Spoken Truth and Rathgar are all proven over the distance. The first-named of that trio is 1lb lower than when he won this race last year and could be the biggest danger if selection's stamina folds.
