UK Horse Racing Tips: Killarney

His OKLAHOMA was a promising second at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend and the brother to Hawk Mountain can put that experience to good use. Of the six runners, only Ger Lyons' Francillon doesn't hold an entry in the newly-elevated Group 1 over 1m1f at Leopardstown in September. Nonetheless, the Frankel colt is out of a Grade 1-winning mare and can't be ruled out. The selection's stablemate Capability Brown is a half-brother to 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior while City Of Dubai is a Mehmas half-brother to Group 3 winner Bear Story.

Straight Up holds a healthy rating of 99, but it's hard to gauge where he's at after three defeats since landing a maiden on debut last year. Last of five in the Group 3 Derby Trial at Leopardstown most recently, he drops in grade but needs a revival. Preference is for MAI DAHLIA, who made short work of her rivals in a fillies' maiden at Naas and makes a quick reappearance. She was entered for a Listed contest here later in the week, but this may be a more suitable target at this stage. Res Ipsa's easy win at Limerick was in an ordinary maiden, but he's well bred and could prove progressive.

There should be more to come from CHIRAC who started in handicaps from a low base. Sent off as favourite on his last three starts, he was a taking winner at Gowran before disappointing at Leopardstown. However, he bounced back on good ground at Cork when second to a horse that was narrowly denied off a 10lb higher mark at York on Friday. Johnny Soda edged out Glitter And Glory by half-a-length at Leopardstown. The latter gets a 5lb pull, but Ado McGuinness' runner scored a shade cosily and can confirm the form. Dervo Annie has been consistent and now steps up in trip while Vishaya is the choice of the champion jockey from Joseph O'Brien's two handicap debutants.

The veteran EARLS has run well on his last couple of outings and may be able to get back into the winners' enclosure. He was a close-up second to Monvoe in a good finish at Limerick last month and is only 1lb higher now. He is versatile ground-wise, having won on good and heavy. Molto Amichi is winless after 14 attempts and is a touch frustrating. He made a bold bid from the front at Leopardstown last time, before getting collared in the closing stages, and should run well again. French import American Lawyer is a bit of an unknown quantity and one to keep an eye on in the market.

Irish Oaks entry SEA OF THE CELTS is a fascinating newcomer for Paddy Twomey. The Sea The Stars filly cost 525,000gns as a yearling. Her dam Makawee was placed multiple times in stakes company, including the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks, and is a half-sister to Melbourne Cup runner-up Prince Of Arran. Ballydoyle filly White Sand Beach sets the standard off her mark of 82. She ran well to chase home Moonlit Sun in first-time blinkers at Naas last time and should be a big player again. Vauntingly, placed on all three starts to date, is another that has to be on the shortlist.

CAMINO LAD can complete the sequence here having been third and second on his first two outings. The Flintshire gelding kept on without reaching Wonderfulwonderful at Ballinrobe last time and a further step up in trip looks like it will suit. Although Loch Gamhna has an official rating of 82 and is capable on the pick of his form, he needs to improve on his runs this season. Mr Ballynonty shaped with promise on his debut but didn't come forward from that run when well beaten at Fairyhouse. He's tried in cheekpieces now and may be capable of a bit better.

SANDS CASTLE ran well after missing the kick when chasing home cosy winner Rodeo Blues at Ballinrobe three weeks ago. That form looks strong with the winner following up subsequently at Naas. The selection tackles her longest trip to date and may find the necessary improvement for a breakthrough victory. Wipeawayyourtears arrives here on the back of a victory at Fairyhouse and connections offset a 5lb rise with Jack Cleary back in the plate. Point Cartwright has been knocking on the door and is also worth a second look after finishing just a length off the aforementioned Rodeo Blues at Naas last time.
