Following her bloodless Carlisle success on debut, Wild Blossom was fancied for the Queen Mary but didn't quite see it out as expected. This kind of test should be ideal for her, but HIDDEN GIFT is preferred. She built on a promising first effort at Ripon when fifth in the Albany, giving the impression the extra furlong was a step too far at this stage in her career. Fast Track got off the mark at Beverley when presented with a golden opportunity and is respected, along with Newbury Super Sprint winner Zigazig Ah.

FLORA OF BERMUDA displayed her toughness when bouncing back from a bad experience at Royal Ascot to land the Summer Stakes at York. The five-year-old brings a strong body of form to proceedings and it it surprising that she has never tried 7f before. Zanthos didn't get home in the French 1000 Guineas before struggling to make an impact in the Commonwealth Cup, but a repeat of her Rockfel success would bring her into contention. Sayidah Dariyan was third to the selection at Newmarket in May and was only beaten three lengths in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee, while the unexposed Planet Seeker was an impressive winner on her handicap bow at Newmarket and definitely has more to offer.

The unbeaten Adonius completed a hat-trick in the Lily Agnes at Chester and has been a huge credit to Rebecca Menzies with his progression in a short space of time. Pershaada (fourth) finished ahead of Crownbreaker (fifth) in the Queen Mary and the latter has since won in Listed company at Deauville. The pair are entitled to be in the mix, but the vote goes to EL FLORIDITA. A maiden winner at Redcar, there didn't appear to be any fluke about his 150/1 second in the Norfolk and that effort arguably sets the standard.

BOW ECHO has passed every test so far and his victories in the 2000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes cemented his position as a miler of the highest order. This illustrious event presents the son of Night Of Thunder with the task of coping with a speedy downhill finish, while taking on his elders for the first time. However, he is a smooth traveller and is very capable of exploiting the 8lb weight-for-age allowance. Gstaad was second in both those aforementioned races and, having been impressive by winning the Irish 2000 Guineas in between, he is very much the pick of Aidan O'Brien's entrants. Opera Ballo, a Group 1 winner in the UAE in January, has the most scope of the older horses. As a previous course winner, Zavateri is dangerous to underestimate over a mile for the first time.

It's safe to say this is one of the toughest races of the entire meeting to fathom and many hold realistic chances. Winchurch has won three of his last five starts and is on the crest of a wave, while Under The Twilight, Vingegaard and Tex all won last time out and merit close inspection. However, slender preference is for SUPREME KING, who has been highly consistent in defeat of late and, impervious to the state of the ground, being reunited with Oisin Murphy is a big statement of intent.

BOBBY BENNU is a reliable performer over this trip and looks a key player off just 1lb above his last winning mark. A near-miss at Newcastle last month should have set him up nicely for this and the five-year-old is an attractive proposition. Goldmoyne and Silver Ghost are others with solid enough credentials to merit close inspection, while Defence Minister can figure if bouncing back from a couple of below-par efforts. Rhoscolyn won the 2023 renewal, as well as last year's Golden Mile here, and could offer some each-way value.
