GUNFIGHTER was well found in the market when securing a third career victory at Southwell and a 3lb higher mark doesn't appear prohibitive. That was only the five-year-old's third outing for current connections and there should be more to come. Handicap debutant Merry has displayed clear promise on all three qualifying runs and she may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Al Muqdad.

Having made light work of a 72-rated rival over C&D, an opening mark of 84 looks workable for Carnival Of Light. Charlie Johnston's filly is still open to improvement and another bold bid is forecast, but BELLA BISBEE rates as a more solid proposition. The five-year-old arrives on the back of a close-up second at Lingfield and compensation may beckon. Ghisa is expected to be involved at the finish as well.

SUGGY got off the mark at the sixth attempt when winning over the Kempton mile before disappointing when only eighth back on turf in June. Moved back to the all-weather here for his latest start he won as he pleased and although upped 6lb, there may be more to come on his favoured surface. Always Blue makes her handicap debut and looks potentially well in off a mark of just 72 making her one to watch, while India Gold is another to at least consider.

ROC DE FER stepped up to 11 furlongs to get off the mark eased down at Southwell on Monday and, turned out quickly carrying a 6lb penalty, he looks the likeliest winner with the added furlong in his favour and with Sir Mark Prescott a master at placing his horses. Joseph has won twice over shorter and tries this trip for the first time. If he stays he could place, though Jodhpur Blue seems the likelier to come home second.

AMERICAN STYLE made a highly encouraging all-weather debut when beaten only a neck over C&D. There should be more to come from the son of Washington DC on this surface and Kevin Ryan's charge is taken to edge out Papa Cocktail. The latter has been in the mix on the turf lately, while Maris Angel is a prolific winner at this venue and is not easily dismissed.

Linda Perratt's yard remains in fine form and the recent Ayr winner SIXCOR can go in again, despite a penalty. The eight-year-old does most of his winning at the latter track, but has won here in the past and can make the long journey down from Scotland worthwhile in this lowly company. Fancy Dancer has a shout at the weights and makes more appeal than Happier and Poetic Jack.
