UK Horse Racing Tips: Catterick

PALACE LEGACY, a half-brother to four winners, ran with promise when third of five on debut at Epsom and should be a lot wiser for the experience. He shades preference over Waakabb, who showed greenness when introduced at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and the switch to turf may draw some improvement from this well-bred colt. Stormy Winter is the pick of the newcomers, although his pedigree suggests this trip might be on the sharp side.

WAIT FOR IT has shown improved form of late in handicaps and the drop into classified stakes company could work the oracle. As a pace angle in the race, the Bated Breath filly has a decent chance of finally breaking her maiden. Rain Cap and Without Delay tend to go well here and won't be pushovers, while Iconic Times should be thereabouts.

ZEPHLYN won twice over C&D in May last year and he looks worth chancing off a competitive current mark back at the scene of his only successes on turf. Fleur De Mer is unexposed over the trip and merits close inspection with a first-time visor added, while Lillistar and Speechman are others with course experience who don't have much to find to be on the premises.

Tim Easterby saddled the winning favourite in two of the last three renewals and his Barmyblade is sure to attract plenty of support after sticking his neck out to prevail over C&D. He will be hard to catch but might be taken on for the lead by reopposing third Miss Rainbow and possibly Enjoy The Night, which could set things up for CAPTAIN CESS. Declan Carroll's four-year-old atoned for a luckless Wetherby third when going in at Thirsk and his finishing strength will serve him well over this shorter trip. Call Glory and Battenburg Belle are also respected.

Hansteen has been in fine form, but he was turned over by an unexposed opponent from the Sir Mark Prescott team at Southwell and is unfortunate enough to bump into another. HALIMEDE showed precious little in her three qualifying runs, but the daughter of Sea The Moon is bred to relish the extra half-mile and an initial rating of 59 is definitely workable. Muhib was put firmly in his place by Hansteen at Pontefract and although he is 13lb better off, he is a 27-race maiden.

DORALEE had Brain Freeze and Dunnington Lad in arrears when touched off at Ripon and the Barrons get her out again before the handicapper has a say. Admittedly, her strike-rate could be better but that recent display strongly suggested her turn is imminent. Havin A Flyer also makes a quick return and does so on the back of letting favourite-backers down at Wolverhampton. That third continued a good run of form, though, and she is a viable alternative.
