Yorkshire Oaks Runners Guide
KALPANA
Andrew Balding trained five-year-old who recorded the third Group 1 success of her career when reversing last year’s form with Calandagan in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last time. She is yet to run at York in her career but Enable did the King George- Yorkshire Oaks double in both 2017 and 2019 and she is a worthy favourite with an official rating of 125.
MINNIE HAUK
Last year’s impressive winner comes into this contest off the back of an inconsistent campaign so far. The Aidan O’Brien trained four-year-old made a winning reappearance before finishing well beaten in the Tattersalls Gold Cup on her next start. She ran well to finish 2nd in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot before finishing a well beaten 8th in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last time when 18 lengths behind Kalpana.
JOHANNA WALSH
Progressive three-year-old who only won a Leopardstown maiden in May before a close 2nd in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Earth Shot. The Joseph O’Brien trained filly put in a huge career best performance when a four-length winner of the Irish Oaks under Dylan Browne McMonagle. She will receive a handy 9lb weight for age allowance from her elders and looks the leading contender from the classic generation.
TATTYCORUM
Ralph Beckett trained four-year-old who has shown much improved form so far this season winning both of her starts. She won the listed Daisy Warwick Stakes at Goodwood on her reappearance before beating Tiffany, who won a Group 1 in Germany on Sunday, by 4 ½ lengths in the rearranged Group 2 Lancashire Oaks at Newmarket last time. An official rating of 111 gives her 9lbs to find with Kalpana but she is entitled to take her chance in Group 1 company for the first time.

Betting Insights for the Yorkshire Oaks
Three-year-olds have dominated this race in recent years winning it 10 of the previous 12 renewals and JOHANNA WALSH (best priced at 6/1) looks the leading contender from that generation. The Joseph O’Brien trained filly progressed from winning a Leopardstown maiden in May to finishing 2nd in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot before winning the Irish Oaks by four lengths in impressive style last time.
Johanna Walsh was given an adjusted rating of 117 following that victory which means she is 1lb clear of Kalpana on weight adjusted figures in receipt of 9lbs in this contest. She looks overpriced at current odds.
