Forbidden Fire 16/5 (1pt)

This 6f novice stakes looks set to be dominated by debutants and preference goes to FORBIDDEN FIRE (best priced at 16/5) who holds a Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes later in the season. Andrew Balding won this race last year, in 2022 and in 2018 and he runs this superbly bred filly who is seventh foal out of Group 1 winner Arabian Queen, with all other six siblings winning races.

Forbidden Fire is a half sister to See The Fire but also to Royal Playwright who won on his debut and Venetian Prince who won at 2 so she is bred to be precocious enough to win on debut. She is in receipt of weights from the boys and can hopefully make a winning start to her career.

Quest For Stars 7/4 (1pt)

The Stonehenge Stakes is going to be an interesting race to watch tactically as the well fancied pair Scommessa Sicura and QUEST FOR STARS (best priced at 7/4) have both won races making all. Charlie Appleby won this race three years in a row between 2021 and 2023 and runs the unbeaten son of Sea The Stars who have shown a superb attitude to repel late challengers on both of his starts over 7f.

Charlie Appleby is 17/42 (40% strike rate) with his two-year-olds this season and I expect Quest For Stars to maintain his unbeaten record before heading to the Royal Lodge Stakes later in the season.

Remi Rae 11/8 (1pt)

This looks a weak 6f novice race with the 69 rated REMI MAE (best priced at 11/8) looking the most likely winner having been demoted a month ago when first past the post. The Andrew Balding trained filly had placed on three of her first five career starts before running around at the finishing and bumping the runner-up at Nottingham last time.

Remi Rae is in theory a winner running here without a penalty and she looks the one to beat with Oisin Murphy taking over on board for the first time.
