UK Horse Racing Tips: Thirsk

Gelded before finishing fourth at Goodwood, the drop in grade may see him up on the front end throughout on his easiest assignment yet. He could now be peaking and is hard to ignore, though the two stall is a negative. MOULIN BOOJ travels north from George Scott's Newmarket base after winning at Nottingham on Tuesday and although carrying a 5lb penalty, he has the nine stall and might take full advantage, with Equity Law the biggest danger from the box next door.

ENCHANT finished a promising sixth at Doncaster on her belated reappearance and, given a couple of winners have come out of that novice race, the unexposed daughter of Wootton Bassett could prove better than her opening mark now handicapping. Shadow Run finished a creditable runner-up at Doncaster and first-time cheekpieces may bring further improvement, while Substance won at Roscommon for Joseph O'Brien in May and could shape well for new connections.

MILITARY LEADER looks to have a good opportunity of bringing a frustrating string of placed efforts to an end. Narrowly beaten at Ayr last time, Phillip Makin's charge drops back down a grade for this and is expected to launch another strong challenge racing off the same mark. Roaring Ralph faced a tougher assignment at York last time and this is more his level, while Donna Nook and Jesmond Dawn are old foes and closely matched.

HALIMEDE looks to have an ideal chance of landing the hat-trick. Sir Mark Prescott's progressive three-year-old supplemented an earlier Catterick success with a facile odds-on victory at Lingfield six days ago and is 3lb well in here, despite carrying a double penalty. Recobella has been in fine form over 1m2f at Ayr recently and makes more appeal than Prince Achille of the remaining pair.
