Corolla Point

Corolla Point looks one of the most progressive sprinters in the field and can continue his excellent record since joining Ed Bethell. He is 3-3-3 from six starts for the yard and arrives off a convincing Hamilton win, with just 3lb added. His third over C&D in May off 94 is particularly encouraging, especially given the strength of that race, and he looks well suited by York's sharp 5f.

Gentle Hurricane

Gentle Hurricane made an impressive winning debut at Salisbury and looks an intriguing candidate for this step up in class and distance. Andrew Balding has a strong record of targeting this race with promising horses, and the fact Oisin Murphy retains the ride is another positive. He beat a previous winner on debut and, with plenty of scope for improvement from just one start, can take another step forward here.

Ombudsman

Ombudsman sets a very high bar for this field and looks capable of proving too classy for the younger challengers. The five-year-old was a dominant three-length winner of this race last year and has taken another step forward this season, remaining unbeaten in three starts and powering four lengths clear in a Group 1 at Royal Ascot last time. With an OR of 132 and a career-best RPR in that latest victory, he arrives at York in outstanding form. The three-year-olds receive weight and Constitution River is a serious threat, but Ombudsman’s proven Group 1 level gives him the edge.
