DAMYSUS's third-placed finish behind Item in the York Stakes could hardly have been better advertised by the winner, who doggedly won the Juddmonte on Wednesday. That was the son of Frankel's second good effort at this course and dropping him down a grade could see him off the mark for this season. The Gordon Stakes runner-up, Geryon, is likely to be a sharp thorn in the side of the selection, while Persica has already enjoyed a profitable campaign and must be feared based on recent efforts in List company. Hankelow is still unexposed and also can't be ruled out.

LIMESTONE's defeat in the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp is only a slight blot on his otherwise unblemished record this season. The son of New Bay is a strong candidate to bounce back, dropping from a Group 1 for a first appearance in a handicap. Andrew Balding's good record in this race, combined with how results have panned out for the stable this week, suggest Mythical Bay is dangerous to underestimate. However, Infraad and Into The Light boast stronger credentials at this stage and are are championed as bigger threats to the Joseph O'Brien-trained hopeful, in that order of preference.

Notable Speech is already a multiple Group 1 winner and has been victorious in just shy of half of his career starts so far. However, all those successes came over a mile and he may be worth opposing on his first attempt over this intermediate trip. ZAVATERI is much more accustomed to this distance and cutting back a furlong could be ideal after a troubled run when fifth in the Sussex at Goodwood. Ten Bob Tony was a place ahead of the selection in that prestigious event and also commands respect back over 7f. Lake Forest and Japan's Satono Reve are other high-class contenders.

Klassleader makes more appeal back over this longer trip having won over 1m4f at the track in May, but a chance is taken on SQUARE NECKER. The unexposed four-year-old is dual winner over 1m5f, won't mind any cut in the ground and looks to have been kept fresh for this.

Stratusnine won over C&D last month, when COUL ANGEL finished strongly to grab second place. That effort can be marked up, given he raced away from the pace on the near rail, and another bold bid looks assured from Mick Appleby's sprinter. Both Air Force One (third) and Red Spells Danger (fifth) finished behind the selection, although the former won back here on Wednesday and could feature again, while Evening Saigon landed the Stewards' Cup last time and is no forlorn hope off a 4lb higher mark. Dance In The Storm and Far Above Dream are others to note.

Although ADONIUS lost his unbeaten record when second in the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood, Rebecca Menzies' gelding emerged with lots of credit. The son of Soldier's Call is blessed with plenty of early speed so this track should really suit him and now dropped in grade, he is fancied to gain compensation. Dance A Jig bounced back from a below-par effort in the Windsor Castle to land a nursery at Haydock and is still capable of better. Sale Shark was a couple of lengths in arrears of the selection on the Sussex Downs but might have been undone by a low draw, whilst Dubai Champion is another of interest because Ryan Moore keeps their partnership intact.

Stepping up in trip coincided with a career-best performance from Raammee in the John Smith's Cup and Roger Varian's gelding will rightfully prove popular, despite an 8lb rise. It might be worth giving DIEGO EL QUESO another chance, though, who endured a trouble passage when finishing over three lengths in arrears of Al Aali (winner) at Glorious Goodwood. He will probably need a slice of luck on this occasion too, but Ger Lyons' charge is clearly capable off this lofty mark. Accredit hasn't been seen since October but he brings bags of untapped potential and must be taken seriously, whilst others to note include Thunder Run and Bourbon Blues.
