UK Horse Racing Tips: Cork

DIAMONDS AND DAMES went well on her debut over 7f at Gowran Park a little over a month ago. While ridden along at halfway, she stuck to her task in the straight to take fourth spot behind all-the-way winner Sword Of State and subsequent scorer Seaxburh. She might just go better on the softer ground this time and looks a match for the more experienced Eighteenth Smiles, who probably ran his best race when third at Roscommon. There is unlikely to be much between the stable companions Williamsburg and Mirren and they must both be considered, along with newcomer Dang Thai Son.

GLAMAZON arrives here on the back of a fair effort over C&D and is obviously one for the shortlist. She came from off the pace when a never-nearer third, finishing just ahead of Dawn Flame, and she might well do better from a more favourable draw now. Another with a low draw is Beau Army, who had a number of these behind her when winning over 7f at Gowran Park earlier this month. Her form is closely matched with that of Cause I Like You, who can't be ruled out despite her wide draw. Aiteall starts off in handicaps after three runs in maiden races in the space of just two weeks and he should have his chance too.

A Listed winner as a juvenile when trained in Britain, BENEVENTO made all the running when successful in a conditions event at Gowran on his second start in Ireland. He has a little bit to find at the weights with a couple of these rivals, but could again be dangerous off the front end. Beaten around seven lengths when an outsider in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, Bamako Beach broke his maiden at Fairyhouse and seems ideally suited by this trip. After an easy maiden win at Limerick, Res Ipsa was turned over at odds-on in a three-runner contest at Killarney, but he remains open to more improvement.

A competitive renewal of this Group 3 which was won by Princess Child when run at Tipperary last year. Although below-par recently, any easing in the ground would enhance her prospects of a repeat victory. Preference is for MAGNY COURS, who was down the field when last seen in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, but was previously seen in a much better light when second to subsequent 1000 Guineas winner True Love in a Group 3 over this trip at Leopardstown in April. Pivotal Attack was a place behind the selection on that occasion and comes here after a Listed win at Galway. Catalina Delcarpio disappointed at Royal Ascot, but had previously won a Listed contest at Leopardstown.

ROSIE FRITH is a 5f specialist and recorded her fourth win when landing a Curragh handicap three weeks ago. The Cotai Glory filly has been found wanting at stakes level a couple of times, but is well worth another shot at a black-type contest. Likedbymike gained a confidence-boosting win at Naas and was twice runner-up at this level earlier in the season, including when chasing home Kendall Roy here in June. She's 3lb better off with that rival and might be able to reverse placings. Brussels hasn't matched his juvenile exploits this term, but can't be ruled out dropping down significantly in grade.

OTSANA shaped well enough when fifth on her debut to suggest she can win a race of this nature. Prominent from the outset in that 7f Curragh maiden, the Paddy Twomey-trained filly only weakened inside the final furlong. The daughter of Cotai Glory now takes a drop in trip and is well drawn towards the centre of the track. Grande Cuvee bumped into a smart sort when second at Dundalk last time and has to hold decent claims. Feel Happy is another worth considering after showing up well in her three appearances so far.

Despite the obvious concern of a wide draw, ARCH ENEMY is taken to record a 10th career win. The Patrick Magee-trained mare ran better than her final placing suggests when fifth at Galway last time. Sam Coen has won three times on the grey and his presence in the saddle is surely significant. Preparations did well to win at Tramore recently, having been badly hampered mid-race. Lauderdale King also catches the eye.
