HOPE RISING completed a hat-trick by an incredible aggregate of more than 48 lengths and may not be done with yet. La Peregrina was rewarded for a couple of honourable efforts when landing the odds at Thirsk and should have more to offer. He lost a Goodwood race to Celestarak in the stewards' room, but that one has since flopped at Epsom.

Lahina Bay is edging back towards the winner's enclosure and although her turf stats are much better than her all-weather record, her sole success on an artificial surface did come over C&D. Even so, a safer option might be BALON D'OR, who dug deep from the front to deny a hat-trick seeker over track and trip and could be underestimated by a 3lb rise. Far Too Fizzy was caught in the shadows of the post, also over C&D, and should get his head in front again before too long.
