Startling continues to knock on the door with four seconds from her last five starts, including a length-and-a-half defeat at Ayr last month. With all her four wins coming on the all-weather, she enters calculations. However, WHAT A TAHOO won a shade cleverly when arriving late on the scene at Lingfield and she may be improving fast enough to shrug off the additional 3lb if getting a clear run. Invincible Crown is also of interest back in class 6 company. Prediction : 1st What A Tahoo 2nd Startling 3rd Invincible Crown

Black Orchid has finished second on all three previous starts, the latest when beaten three lengths here over a furlong further. She may have to settle for another place. Elyam was third at Windsor on his last start but that was in August 2024 and he might be best watched. Therefore, a chance is taken on ATOMIK. Joey Ramsden has booked Danny Tudhope to ride for her second start. Granted that she ran green and weakened late on at huge odds over 6f here in August, improvement can be expected. Prediction : 1st Atomik 2nd Black Orchid 3rd Elyam
17:35 Southwell
GRAND PIER won a weaker race by five lengths at Ffos Las last week and, as that was for apprentice riders, he gets in here without a penalty. Due to go up 10lb for future handicaps, assuming the son of Palace Pier can repeat that level on the all-weather, he is difficult to oppose. Roker Roar was only beaten a short-head at Windsor but an extra 2lb from the handicapper cannot help his cause, leaving Al Maslool and Much as others to consider. Prediction : 1st Grand Pier 2nd Roker Roar 3rd Al Maslool

CASTLEMONT was impressive on his belated debut at Windsor in July and this appears to be a good chance for the gelded son of New Bay to further enhance his profile. Walking On Stars and Star Of The Desert have the option of going handicapping and it's notable their connections stick to novice company for the time being. Support in the betting for either would be interesting to note. Maestro Del Mar is the pick of the older horses and might be capable of rewarding an each-way punt. Prediction : 1st Castlemont 2nd Walking On Stars 3rd Star Of The Desert

LUMINARE appeals the most on the back of a string of consistent performances in not too dissimilar company. After fluffing the start on her latest outing at Newbury, the daughter of Dark Angel recovered well and was unlucky not get up on the line. That form has been franked and a 4lb rise doesn't appear restrictive this time. Chantelle is another consistent performer to consider with first-time cheekpieces tried, while Great Mates and The Third Star are also fancied to be on the premises. Prediction : 1st Luminare 2nd Chantelle 3rd Great Mates
19:10 Southwell
FRANSCHHOEK has the most potential. Having built on a promising debut third at Kempton in March, the son of Saxon Warrior returned from a 146-day break to get off the mark at Wolverhampton last month. An opening mark of 79 is workable and he offers the most intrigue in a race where the likes of American State, Hale End and Kaleido command respect but are all far more exposed. The ex-Aidan O'Brien-trained Savile Row also warrants a betting check on his second run after wind surgery. Prediction : 1st Franschhoek 2nd American State 3rd Hale End

Korbut finished second four times in a row prior to finally getting off the mark in a maiden at Ffos Las 13 days ago. She is respected back in the handicap ranks. However, INDEFENSIBLE makes the most appeal. Ollie Pears' charge outran his odds of 22/1 to make the frame in a warmer event at Thirsk and could take advantage of an unchanged mark. Piscean Star is another to watch out for.Prediction : 1st Indefensible 2nd Korbut 3rd Piscean Star
20:10 Southwell
KIRKDALE and Modern Times are both seeking hat-tricks, but it's the former who possesses the most scope for improvement. Ed Bethell's four-year-old made his way through the pack to score over C&D in April and he could take another step forward. Papa Cocktail competes off a workable mark and the booking of Jason Hart suggests a big run might be in the offing.Prediction : 1st Kirkdale 2nd Modern Times 3rd Papa Cocktail
