HOW'S ELLIE was still at the head of affairs when she fell at Ballinrobe 25 days ago and her relatively swift reappearance in similar company is testament that all is well as she bids to make amends for that final-flight mishap. Dawn Coming and the generally consistent Astelia are others with decent chances in a race heavier on numbers than solid contenders.
Prediction : 1st Hows Ellie 2nd Dawn Coming 3rd Astelia

Having run well on the Flat since she won a similar handicap at Wexford last month, SPLASHING OUT is a consistent mare that could be tough to overhaul if she posts another dominant effort from the front. The well-bred Cocofred was the ready winner of a maiden at Roscommon on his latest start and is likely to be a thorn in the side of Eoin Griffin's mare on his handicapping debut. Hopes Are High and Hopeful Hero also command respect based on their peak efforts.
Prediction : 1st Splashing Out 2nd Cocofred 3rd Hopes Are High

SPEED FOR FUN was seemingly in command when he fell at the last on his hurdles bow at Listowel in May and would surely have broken his maiden if he'd stayed on his feet. Subsequent second-placed finishes at Cartmel and Tramore were further hints that the Willie Mullins-trained gelding can win races and this appears to be a golden opportunity for the five-year-old to get off the mark over timber. Pretty Wild and Maroel are low-mileage fillies to consider, while The Iron Chef shouldn't be underestimated on his hurdles bow.
Prediction : 1st Speed For Fun 2nd Pretty Wild 3rd Maroel

Cooladdi stayed on strongly over 2m3f here to win his maiden last month and is worth a try at this trip, though a mark of 110 seems high enough on what he has achieved so far. Mighty Berkshire failed to follow up his Galway success when a beaten favourite at Tramore where he wasn't beaten far, but MIDNIGHT EAGLE is preferred. Her 5lb rise for a Sligo success is balanced by Peter Smithers' claim, and she is well worth sticking with in her current frame of mind.
Prediction : 1st Midnight Eagle 2nd Mighty Berkshire 3rd Cooladdi

Fou De Toi showed plenty of promise when second at Ballinrobe on his chasing bow, beaten less than two lengths and finishing strongly over 3m. He can go well but might be better over further than this. Los Blanco was beaten 11 lengths at Wexford though could improve with the de Bromhead string in fine fettle, but MANOIR DE MIRANDE gets the nod. He receives 11lb as a four-year-old and having won a bumper and twice over hurdles, if he takes to fences as expected, he can complete the set.
Prediction : 1st Manoir De Mirande 2nd Fou De Toi 3rd Los Blanco

PINOT GRIS belied odds of 33/1 when finishing a respectable second in Listed company over hurdles at Galway last month. A winner over fences at Wexford prior to that, he returns to the larger obstacles with strong claims off his current mark and is taken to edge out Hashtag Pretender. The latter returned the cosy winner of a beginners' chase at Roscommon last time despite mistakes and there should be more to come from him over fences, while Watch The Weather and Charlie Luciano are others to consider.
Prediction : 1st Pinot Gris 2nd Hashtag Pretender 3rd Watch The Weather

MY GREAT MATE finished a creditable third at Galway in July considering that was only his third start over fences and his first outing of the year. That run should have brought him on a good deal and a bold bid is anticipated from Willie Mullins' son of Jukebox Jury as he steps up in trip. Affinity Rock could only manage third when sent off favourite at Killarney recently. She's capable of much better than that and is preferred to the chasing debutant Chanceawetmorning.
Prediction : 1st My Great Mate 2nd Affinity Rock 3rd Chanceawetmorning
