This looks a competitive 0-65 handicap with both Methgal and RYE (best priced at 9/2) coming into the race off the back of a recent victory. Preference goes to the latter whose success came over this course and distance as well as having three 2nd placed finishes previously over this course and distance off marks of 62, 61 and 59.
The handicapper has raised Rye 3lbs for her head success here last time when getting off the mark at the nineteenth attempt in re-fitted cheekpieces meaning that she remains competitively handicapped off a mark of 61. Billy Loughnane takes over on board which is no negative and she looks sure to run well from Stall 5.

Notable Charm is a worthy favourite having finished second over this course and distance eight days ago off a 2lb lower mark but a chance is taken on MASTERPIECE (best priced at 16/1) who should relish this step up in trip. The six-year-old won a Newcastle bumper in October 2024 in good style by 3 ½ lengths before getting sold having pulled up on his hurdling debut at the end of that season.
Masterpiece was then transferred to Patrick Morris and has been well beaten on his three starts on the flat but those were over a mile and twice over 1m3f. He now steps up in trip dramatically on his flat handicap debut with connections also fitting him with first-time cheekpieces. A much better effort is expected from the six-year-old despite running from out of the weights after a 171 day break.
