Pushing The Limits 3/1 (1pt)
Extragalactic is currently a short priced favourite for this novice race having finished 2nd on his previous two starts but the form of his latest effort was let down by the horse who finished narrowly behind him and a chance is taken on PUSHING THE LIMITS (best priced at 3/1) instead. The Stephen Hanlon trained gelding was backed from 66/1 into 11/2 on his debut when 3rd of 13 at Newcastle three weeks ago and the form is working out well.
The winner Showcasing Glory won his next start under a 7lb penalty and the 2nd went on to finish 2nd on his next start. Pushing The Limits was reluctant to load and slowly away before staying on strongly over 7f shaping like this step up in trip to a mile would suit. He looks a big danger to the favourite.

Sergeant Mayer 11/2 (0.5pt ew)
The Nigel Tinkler trained SERGEANT MAYER (best priced at 11/2) completed a hat-trick of in August and September including over this course and distance when beating the reopposing Emperor’s Son despite not getting the clearest of runs. The five-year-old was then narrowly beaten last time when 3rd at Newcastle but his record on the AW is 0-6 in comparison to turf where he has won six times.
Sergeant Mayer runs back over this course and distance off the same mark of 68 and he can hopefully resume his progress.

City Captain 7/2 (1pt)
CITY CAPTAIN (best priced at 7/2) has shown improved form at Hamilton on his previous three starts but I am hoping he can transfer that uplift in form to Haydock. The Harriet Bethell trained four-year-old was dropped in trip to 5f for the first time in his career last time on soft ground where he still travelled well into the race before winning by a head at the finish.
The heavy ground at Haydock should prove no inconvenience to City Captain and he should be able to defy a 3lb rise with Jason Watson deputising on board.
