POST CHAISE 0.75pts EW @ 10/1
This Handicap Chase is very winnable, with only two Novices in the field contributing towards the ever popular unexposed angle. Instead, I am looking at a Horse who already has six Chase victories to his name, and following a long absence POST CHAISE shaped nicely on his reappearance last month.
The last two times this 9yo has won has been off a mark of 110, and following a 554 day absence he finally returned off that mark at Bangor last month. Clearly connections thought he would need that run as he was sent off an unfancied 25/1 shot, and he certainly shaped that way. Having set off prominently he lost his position at the 11th flight, before rallying and making headway at three out. Once his winning chance had gone Toby Wynne sat up and looked after his mount however, letting him come home in his own time in sixth.
With that run for fitness now under his belt, there are loads of positives for POST CHAISE at Uttoxeter on Friday. Firstly, the handicapper dropped him 2lbs for that effort to a mark of 108, which makes him look well treated. Jack Tudor also gets to jump aboard for the first time, and it is notable that a first time tongue-tie is applied. Lastly, the selection was last seen winning in a Class 3 contest, so this drop in grade to a 0-110 is surely only a positive. Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s string seem to be needing their reappearance efforts in general, so I am not too concerned about the stable form considering this is his second run after a desperately needed effort.
