Jake Price shares three standout betting tips for Saturday's racing action.
13:10 Limerick - Maiden Hurdle - 2m½fSee All Odds
TIP 1: MARCO DU SEUIL - 1pt Win
Best odds of 7/4 at BetTom while publishing.
After Gordon Elliott’s MARCO DU SEUIL made his debut for the yard at Ballinrobe in May I thought he was certainly not one to give up on despite being beaten, and although this is a decent contest in which he returns, he looks to have a lot in his favour.
Formerly trained by Mikael Seror in France, he won a Grade 3 AQPS Bumper at Angers in July 2025, and the horse he beat well has twice placed since in similar races. He has since changed hands (presumably for a sizable fee) to join Gordon Elliott for Robcour, and you can see why they bought him considering he's a half-brother to Hercule Du Seuil. What's more interesting to me however is that he is by Galiway, who has a phenomenal record as a Sire of producing Hurdles winners - with his progeny statistic on the Racing Post reading 25 horses who have attempted a Hurdles race, and 17 who have won at least one.
As mentioned, MARCO DU SEUIL did make his Hurdles and stable debut at Ballinrobe in May, and I thought he shaped with plenty of promise despite the vibes not being as strong as you would expect for a prospect like him. Eventually he was beaten after the last where Joe Cool was able to make the most of his Flat speed and race fitness. You'd imagine we will see a much better version of him at Limerick on Saturday, and Mark Walsh is a very good booking with Jack Kennedy over in America.
13:39 Stratford - Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) - 2m6fSee All Odds
TIP 2: ONE KNIGHT - 1pt Win
Best odds of 15/8 at bet365 while publishing.
Emma Lavelle has had her string in good order recently, with two winners from her last eight runners - and a further two have finished second as well. One of her more exciting prospects for the season ahead is surely ONE KNIGHT though, and he looks to have strong claims here on his second attempt at a Maiden Hurdle following excuses in the Spring.
This 6yo is still lightly raced having missed 477 days between winning two Bumpers at Southwell in December 2024 and Hereford in March 2025, but they were both nice performances. That Hereford effort in particular was impressive as he easily scooted away to score by 6 lengths under a penalty, albeit that extra weight was offset by Cameron Johnstone-Baker claiming 10lbs.
In April connections decided to take their chance in the Grade 2 Bumper at the Aintree Festival, but nothing really went right for him that day in 14th place. You'd certainly be able to forgive the run considering the ‘bounce factor’ and that it was a very competitive 20 runner race filled with some of the best Bumper talent around, and plenty of horses put poor runs in Graded NH Flat races behind when going Hurdling. In fact, the likes of Chicker, Cooltobecareless and Governors Rock who finished around him have both won subsequently over timber.
Considering he was fit connections decided to hand ONE KNIGHT his hurdles debut at Ffos Las in May, and he was sent off a very fancied even-money favourite to oblige. It was a decent enough contest for the time of year and ultimately he was beaten into third place by smart prospect The Flaggy Shore, but crucially the vet reported that he bled from the nose, so I am happy to put a line through it.
Perhaps things were just happening that bit too quickly for him over 2m on decent ground, and considering his Dam was a Listed winner over 2m5f, you'd have to say that this increase in distance to 2m6f should help him. This looks a very winnable race, and his usual rider Cameron Johnstone-Baker is able to claim a very useful 7lbs off his back.

TIP 3: LANJOLEUR DE PALMA - 0.5pts EW (4 Places)
Best odds of 12/1 at bet365 while publishing.
Trainer Eric McNamara loves to target races at Limerick, and he is of course responsible for the Minster National winner for the past two years. One Horse of his who shares that affinity for the track is LANJOLEUR DE PALMA, and he had a nice prep-run at Listowel last month in a bid to try and go a few places better in this race this year.
After joining Eric from Tom Ellis last season, the plan was almost identical. He went to Listowel off a mark of 91 and looked to need it in sixth place, before he then came to this race and ran a belter for third - only beaten a neck and very unlucky not to win. Despite a 2lbs rise he got the job done back over course and distance in November however, as this time he was smashed into 11/4f and won by 8 lengths doing handstands.
The handicapper did not like that performance at all and raised him 10lbs to a mark of 103, but over Christmas he once more returned to Limerick for a Listed Handicap Hurdle - and he ran a belter to finish second behind Bilbo (136) despite racing 1lb out of the weights. He would once more go onto finish second at the track in March, this time off a mark of 106.
The challenge now is to try and repeat the trick off a higher mark. His prep at Listowel last month yeilded the same sixth place finish result, and as such the handicapper has left him alone off a mark of 107. What is significant however is that jockey Tom Kelly was not able to claim in that Opportunity Handicap Hurdle, but now he will be able to take 7lbs off his back. Although still inexperienced he rode Millstream Lady to perfection at Listowel last month, so on my eyes the selection is essentially racing off a mark of 100, which seems well within reach.
