Luke Morris renews his acquaintance with EL FOX after they teamed up for a C&D success last week and 2lb more from the handicapper may not stop Marco Botti's filly from following up. Portman Blue represents last year's winning trainer Joseph Parr and he warrants respect after justifying favouritism at Kempton, with the first-time visored Soames Forsyte and Adelaide Bay others to consider.
Prediction : 1st El Fox 2nd Portman Blue 3rd Soames Forsyte

Three horses run here with unbeaten Southwell records and although Always Happy, a winner here in March, and Graniteville, successful over shorter last week, will have their supporters ahead of their handicap debuts, the nod goes to THE THIRD STAR. Owen Burrows' daughter of Iffraaj is one of the oldest in the field at four, but she won as she pleased over C&D for her second course victory and an added 6lb may still underestimate her improvement.
Prediction : 1st The Third Star 2nd Graniteville 3rd Always Happy

King Of York has won five times and placed on 14 occasions here so certainly has a liking for the track and although out of sorts of late, all of his career wins have been over C&D, three off this mark or higher. However, SPLIT ELEVENS is admirably consistent with seven top-four finishes in a row, including wins at Wolverhampton and Lingfield, and he looks the more reliable. Kody B and Enpassant also make the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Split Elevens 2nd King Of York 3rd Kody B

ENCORE broke through at the third time of asking at Kempton in novice company and is taken to kick on now. A mark of 70 for her handicap debut could hugely underestimate this daughter of Hello Youmzain going up in trip and William Haggas seems to have found her a really winnable opening. Shaw Park and Always Blue are more experienced and are put forward as the main dangers.
Prediction : 1st Encore 2nd Shaw Park 3rd Always Blue

18:30 Southwell

FULLY STOCKED has done more than enough in four starts so far to suggest a novice race of this nature is well within reach. He bumped into a progressive odds-on favourite here last time and a press of the repeat button may well suffice in this weaker race. Palms Oasis is respected given he represents a top yard and ought to have improved for his debut fourth over C&D, while Ardad Apollo is another to note.
Prediction : 1st Fully Stocked 2nd Palms Oasis 3rd Ardad Apollo

LAVENDER BLOOM left some mediocre maiden/novice form behind when posting a career-best second on her handicap bow at Bath and she's well worth siding with. Freshened up since and with Dougie Costello, who knows her well, back in the plate, Steph Hollinshead's charge makes a good bit of appeal. The consistent Beach Partee and Black Missile are the ones expected to put up most resistance.
Prediction : 1st Lavender Bloom 2nd Beach Partee 3rd Black Missile

19:30 Southwell

The consistent Inglewood stands out on form figures and it would be surprising if she wasn't on the premises in this company. However, she has already had a few chances to break her maiden and may not represent great value. The once-raced OXBRIDGE could be a more rewarding option if he builds on a third at Wolverhampton, when sent off a short price. Edge of Desire represents shrewd connections and is another capable of stepping forward now she has a run under her belt.
Prediction : 1st Oxbridge 2nd Inglewood 3rd Edge of Desire

20:00 Southwell

Having won her last five starts, SATYRESS is a filly on a roll and her winning spree has every chance of extending in a race where she sets the standard under top weight. Stepping up a couple of furlongs could open new doors for the daughter of Waldgeist and she might have most to fear from Belle Amie and Aussie Pearl, who are others with scope to figure as stayers in the making.
Prediction : 1st Satyress 2nd Belle Amie 3rd Aussie Pearl

20:30 Southwell

Dropping in class could work the oracle for THANKFULLY, who was a respectable third over 1m2f in a deeper race at Ayr last month. Having kept on well near the finish, stepping up a furlong could be a successful move. Seacole has been given a chance by the handicapper and is a potential improver on her first start on Tapeta, while Emma's Letter has course experience and doesn't have much to find to be thereabouts.
Prediction : 1st Thankfully 2nd Seacole 3rd Emmas Letter
