POINTOFDIFFERENCE - Rebecca Curtis (Conyers, McDermott & Prowting) - 5yo

Trainer Rebecca Curtis has restocked nicely over the last year or so, but one not being spoken about enough for me is POINTOFDIFFERENCE. This Crystal Ocean gelding won his Maiden point-to-point at Bartlemy in May 2025, before then picking up an injury which meant he could not go to the sales. He has since won again easily at Ballyknock in April however, and subsequently he was privately purchased for the same team who owns Haiti Couleurs.

He is entered in a Bumper at Ffos Las on Thursday too, so we could see him sooner rather than later.

GALLANT TIDE - Tom Lacey (Mr O Eaton) - 4yo

British point-to-points are very much underrated compared to their Irish counterparts, but one Horse who had a lot of hype surrounding him before making his debut was GALLANT TIDE. He was spoken about by trainer Tom Lacey as being the best pointer he has had since Energumene, and at Larkhill he went and won his Maiden in determined fashion.

Unfortunately connections could not get the sort of money that they wanted for him after that win though, so existing owner Mr O Eaton decided to step in and take a chance on him. As such, he stays with Tom Lacey to go into a career under National Hunt rules. Considering the glowing reviews, he will surely be a smart recruit this season.

HURRICANE MICK - Dan Skelton (Mr Patrick Sheanon) - 4yo

We all know how well Hurricane Pat did last season for Gary & Josh Moore, and the latest off that production line is his half-brother HURRICANE MICK. This well-bred 4yo won his Maiden at Dromahane in April, where Velvet Outlaw fell at the last and allowed our pick to score by two lengths. That rival has joined Olly Murphy and was a pretty unlucky second in a Perth Bumper the other day, whilst the two length second Business Class has joined Jonjo & AJ O’Neill.

The winner was purchased privately for Dan Skelton and will run in the colours of Mr Patrick Sheanon, who owns the likes of Hello Neighbour with Gavin Cromwell in Ireland - so he is a fascinating new addition to the ever growing ownership team at Lodge Hill.

NEW RULES - Paul Nicholls (Michael Geoghegan and Sean Mulryan) - 5yo

Another five-year-old who seems to have been a little forgotten about is NEW RULES, who looks an exciting recruit for Paul Nicholls considering the manner of his Ballindenisk win in November 2025. That easy six length success saw him purchased privately by Michael Geoghegan and Sean Mulryan, and he now moves to Ditcheat with loads of potential.

It is also worth noting that Paul did particularly well with his point-to-point recruits last season, with the likes of Stick To The Board and Order On Time winning Bumpers in the Spring. You would hope that this lad can continue that success, albeit he is likely to go straight over Hurdles.

MONJEU DE CHAILLAC - Olly Murphy (Mason/Hales Family) - 4yo

Lastly on this list is MONJEU DE CHAILLAC, who has joined the Olly Murphy team for €220,000 following his Maiden success at Castletown in April. It was a very good waiting ride which saw him join the leader at the last before asserting on the flat that day, and Ged Mason/the Hales Family were keen to get him. The Crawford team did a good job with him and he has a decent French pedigree, so you can certainly see his appeal. He is also by Jeu St Eloi who has produced the likes of Kargese and Blueking d’Oroux, so he should have a bit more pace rather than simply being an out-and-out stayer.
