Just the one entry into Tracking Corner this week but it was a very interesting run for this Juvenile’s first outing over hurdles.

Horse: Kenough

Trainer: Joseph O’Brien

What caught the eye: A runner at Punchestown on Tuesday in the opening race of the meeting and he was given a very educational ride with it being his first start over hurdles but there was an awful lot to like. This was his third start under rules with the only outings on a racecourse coming on the flat when 4th at Curragh which was preceded by a run on testing ground in March, and no doubt he will improve for this first run over obstacles. He made a lot of headway towards the business end of the contest and ate into the lead of the front pair to finish in third place, but your eye was drawn to him throughout.

When is he a bet: It is far too early to be talking about a potential Fred Winter Cheltenham Festival winner, but you would imagine that the race at Cheltenham, where Joseph has a particularly good record would be the ultimate aim. For now, add him to the tracker and see how he progresses through the season, but I am sure there is an awful lot more to come.
