TIP 1: BAYSIDE VIEW – 1-point each-way

Best odds of 22/1 at Unibet while publishing.

Haven took a massive step forward with her runner-up spot in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile here a few weeks ago but this might not turn out to be the stroll in the park her price suggests and BAYSIDE VIEW is one of the more interesting opponents at much more appealing odds.

Since breaking her duck in impressive fashion at the second time of asking at Newbury earlier in the campaign, Michael Bell’s filly hasn’t had much go her way and all three defeats have plausible excuses attached.

Set too much of a challenge from in the rear at a predominately front runners track at Sandown, the (soft) ground went against her in a similar event at Goodwood next time and at The Curragh on her latest start, everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the daughter of Bayside Boy.

Sent to the Kildare venue in search of the big bucks in a valuable sales race, she was dropped right out in the earlier stages in a bid to switch her off and come with a late run but unfortunately, she ran into all the trouble she could find from three out and she ended up finishing an unlucky fourth.

Whether she would have won for certain is open to debate but there is a strong probability she would have finished second at worst with a clear run and considering the winner, Trean, is rated 105, there is no way Bayside View is not better than her current perch of 93.

Priced up because of her rating rather than her pure ability and potential, today’s stiff mile on good ground should prove ideal and she is fancied to be the big joker in the pack.

TIP 2: ARABIAN LIGHT – 1-point each-way

Best odds of 6/1 at PricedUp while publishing.

White Birch seems to have been found a decent opportunity to register his first win for over two years but a good deal will depend on how he reacts to having another 63 days off the track on top of the previous big pause between drinks.

The only answer to that question will of course be played out in the race itself and the wiser option in the circumstances is to side with ARABIAN LIGHT, with the safety net of three places on offer.

Beaten a length-and-a-half by the useful Persica in a well-run affair at Newbury when last seen, he surely would have gone close to winning, or at least narrowing that losing margin, but for lurching to his right and forfeiting valuable ground away as the stalls crashed back.

All the same, he still produced a career high speed figure in defeat and that effort along with his similarly excellent display in the Brigadier Gerard behind Ombudsman gives him a body of work that is more compelling than most.

TIP 3: WILLIETHEBUILDER – ½ point each-way (five places)

Best odds of 9/1 at Unibet while publishing.

WILLIETHEBUILDER made a bright start to this campaign with an authoritative victory at Sedgefield 13 days ago and while he and his yard appear in the rudest of health, Christian Williams’ inmate can follow up on today’s bigger stage.

The seven-year-old has unhappy memories of the last time he raced at the Berkshire venue, being pulled up after almost brought down at the third, but since then, he has developed into a very smart handicapper.

Back-to-back wins at Kempton last winter signalled him as being a late maturer for his age and that theme was continued on his seasonal bow when he toyed with weaker opposition than he is normally used to off top weight at the Durham venue.

Enjoying the fast conditions that day, he once again has drying ground very much in his favour and having proven himself just as handy, if not better racing right-handed in the past, today’s track and strong gallop should play right into his strengths.

TIP 4: MYTHICAL ISLE – ½ point each-way (four places)

Best odds of 8/1 at PricedUp while publishing.

The race won by Typeface at Wolverhampton recently was noted for its very useful speed figure for the grade and MYTHICAL ISLE, having shaped well in third, receives the confident vote to fly the flag for the form in this similar contest.

Despite finishing runner-up on his previous start, Patrick Morris’ inmate was sent off at 22-1 at the Dunstall venue but that general lack of interest in his chances didn’t prevent him from running really well, keeping on nicely in the latter stages to finish a creditable third.

Moreover, had he not got checked around the two-furlong pole when coming with a promising looking challenge he might have had a bigger say in the outcome and providing he can adapt his game to tonight’s different surroundings, the four-year-old can justify each-way support.

TIP 5: COMANCHE BRAVE – 2-points win

Best odds of 9/4 at Betfair Sportsbook while publishing.

Billy Loughnane once again proved he is the man for all occasions with his last-minute call up on Libertango here last night and the wonder kid can crown what has truly been a glittering season by capturing this Group 1 sprint on COMANCHE BRAVE.

In-keeping with most horses he rides, the 18-year-old has quickly developed a lovely rapport with Donnacha O’Brien’s colt and their victory in the July Cup was supplemented with an even more impressive win over a furlong shorter at The Curragh last time out.

The way he cruised through that strongly-run affair at the Kildare venue was an impressive sight and the turn of foot he exhibited to ease his way clear in the closing stages was equally taking.

The time figure he posted also puts him right at the top of the tree alongside Almeraq in the sprinting division and his overall form levels would appear greater than those achieved by race favourite, Bacio.

True, Bacio will have home advantage and is used to flying around tight bends, but there is more than a fair chance Wesley Ward’s inmate will be taken on by at least one of the five other possible front runners in the field and the potential pace collapse should set things up nicely for Comanche Brave to come sweeping through to claim the spoils.
