There are times I'd like to put a horse up No Runner No Bet, before the decs come out in the belief that once seen on the final field the price might well get a bit shorter.
I was really impressed with the run of Laurets dEstruval at Thurles in February. He looked to have improved hugely from his debut. The form on his run in France has also worked out really well. After the race, Paul did seem to be very taken with him, in a way not often seen from him.
He is totally unexposed as regards graded from, but that hasn’t stopped horses in this in the past. In addition, we are really taking the Dublin Racing Festival runs on face value, which is dangerous for the top of the market here, in that they all have the same form, and the ground was exceptionally bad that day. If that form doesn’t work out, like it would in other years it leave’s this race open to a surprise.
My gut feeling here is this will shorten on the day, and its worth having a bet now.
