The favourites are flying in for punters as bookmakers take a crushing hit.
A streak of winning favourites at Cheltenham Festival has seen punters grab the advantage in the annual war with bookmakers, topped off by a breath-taking victory for fan-favourite Paisley Park.
A whopping 59% of settled win only bets have landed for the penultimate day at Prestbury Park.
With Thursday favourites Defi Du Seuil, Sire Du Berlais and Paisley Park adding to wins for Tiger Roll, Band Of Outlaws and Envoi Allen on Wednesday’s card, bookies have been left severely out of pocket.
Emma Lavelle’s hugely popular Paisley Park accounted for a massive dent in the bookies’ budgets with a late charge to win the Stayers’ Hurdle.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “It's certainly been a day for favourite backers and bookies will have been watching on from behind their sofas as Paisley Park stormed up the hill from mid-field to win the Stayers’ Hurdle.
“Alarmingly for bookmakers, the well backed Epatante and Measureofmydreams are still to run today so it could yet get much worse.”
