The Gigginstown gelding ground out a first Grade 1 victory in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle.
Abacadabras has shortened from 6/1 as far as 3/1 favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival.
The Gigginstown five-year-old, trained by Gordon Elliott, ended up a convincing winner of the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Friday afternoon.
It had been thought that Blue Sari, the former third favourite for the Supreme, would be the main threat in the race. However, the closest challenger turned out to be 25/1 shot Heaven Help Us, who finished up eight lengths adrift in second.
Another from Gordon Elliott’s yard, Envoi Allen, remains a close second in the market at 6/1 for the Supreme having beaten Abacadabras at Fairyhouse earlier this month.
