Colin Tizzard’s star is being backed for Cheltenham after a powerful win at Sandown.
Fiddlerontheroof has been cut from 33/1 to as short as 8/1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival. A couple of bookmakers remain a stand-out 20/1 best price.
Colin Tizzard’s six-year-old was a runaway winner in the Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown, a third success in four years for the trainer.
Relishing the softer ground at the Esher course, Fiddlerontheroof won the Grade 1 contest by eight lengths under a confident ride from Robbie Power.
Punters have wasted little time in diving into the ante-post markets after that performance, with 76% of bets on the Supreme since the race going on the six-year-old.
Gordon Elliott’s yard dominates the top of the market currently. Abacadabras remains the early favourite for the Cheltenham curtain-raiser at 4/1 following his win at Leopardstown after Christmas.
Meanwhile, Envoi Allen is second in the market having drifted to a best price of 7/1. However, all eyes will be on Naas tomorrow as the unbeaten gelding runs in the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle.
Fiddlerontheroof has also been cut to a best price of 14/1 for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and is priced at 33/1 for the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.
