Shiskin has been cut into 10/1 for the Supreme Novices Hurdle.
As big as 33/1 before today’s race, Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old put in an impressive display at Newbury which led bookies to cut his price into 10/1 instantly.
Some bookamkers have cut him even further, with one going as short as 15/2.
Sent off the 7/4 favourite, he looked a class apart from his rivals as he eased through the field. He jumped very well and put to bed any concerns after his fall at the same track last time out.
It looked as there may have been a tussle on with Shakem Up’Arry as the pair went for home together but Shiskin flew past him on the run-in and won by 11 lengths.
He showed a very eye-catching turn of foot, completing the run-in in 20.3 seconds, a very quick time and the sort of speed a Supreme hopeful needs.
It is no wonder punters were in a rush to get their money down on Nico De Boinville’s ride after that sort of display.
He has announced himself as a real contender for the first race at Cheltenham and is now a shorter price than the likes of Andy Dufresne (14/1) and Edwardstone (14/1).
The market is beginning to take clearer shape with the Festival being just eight weeks, and Abacadabras still looks the solid favourite at 9/2.
Shiskin has delivered on the promise he showed last season and any punters who managed to get some of the 33/1 on him will be holding onto their slips dearly until the 10th of March.
