Shiskhin has been installed as the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle favourite after an easy victory at Huntingdon.
He was a best price of 9/2 before today, but was quickly cut into as short as 5/2 with one bookmaker.
Some bookmakers were not so dramatic, with a best price of 7/2 still available, but all firms now make him the one to beat for Cheltenham’s curtain raiser.
Sent off at 1/3, Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old travelled very well throughout the race, and took up the lead with ease.
He showed his impressive turn of foot yet again as he extended a commanding lead up on the run in and there was no catching him.
Nico De Boinville hardly had to touch him. Both Nico and Nicky Henderson will be very excited about their chances with Shiskhin.
He did exactly what was asked of him and now heads into Cheltenham off the back of two impressive victories.
It looks a very open race this year and despite Shiskhin being the favourite, plenty still have live chances.
Asterion Forlonge is second in the market at 5/1, with Abacadabras third at 11/2. Fiddlerontheroof is next at a best price of 8/1.
